Welcome to the new The Vernon Nursery website! We've made lots of changes to make the site easier to use - including clearer categories, better search, a quick order form and the option to create a "wish list".
We recommend that users of this new site set up an account. Unfortunately, we were unable to transfer customer details from the old site to the new. This means that Vernon account holders who last ordered with us before March 8th 2011 will need to create a new account - we apologise for any inconvenience. You can create a new account now or during the checkout process: in this case you will be asked to enter your billing and address details for your order, then when you get to the order acknowledgement page you can create an account by setting up a password at the bottom of the page. We will then store your details. If you do not set up a password you will need to enter your details again the next time you order.
There are many ways of browsing the varieties illustrated on this site and we've added some featured varieties to the home page to help get you started! Simply click on the arrows to the left and right of the screen (beneath the main images) to scroll through our selection of new products, customer favourites and special offers.
Our products have been categorised into groups (eg Geraniums or Fuchsias), and within these groups are subcategories which are designed to help you find the perfect products for your garden or patio. For example, we have categorised all our fuchsias into "basket", "hardy" and "patio" varieties. You can view these categories by clicking on the menus across the top of the homepage or by clicking on any of the category images.
If you already know the name of the variety that you are looking for just pop the name into the search box and the product will be displayed along with other products with a similar name. You can then either add to basket from the list or click through for more information.
If you are looking for a variety but you are not sure of the exact name you can do a more general search eg Geraniums and you can then refine your results by clicking on the options on the left hand menu. You can narrow your search down by features such as flower colour, scent, soil type etc. The number of varieties listed is stated in brackets next to their sub category.
If you have received one of our catalogues and already know the catalogue codes of the items you would like to order, the quickest way to place your order is to use the Quick Order Form. Simply type the codes you have selected into the box and a list of matching products will then be displayed.
Add the one you require to your basket by clicking 'add to basket'. You can continue entering as many codes as you like in this way. The contents of your basket will be displayed underneath the code entry box. You will also be able to enter your individual voucher code or newspaper code on this page so that you can see your exclusive offers.
To order one of the products in the list, click 'More info' to display its product page, which includes growing and delivery information as well as customer reviews. You can either add the product to your basket or your wish list. Once you click on 'Add to Basket' a message will appear confirming that the product has been added successfully, you will also notice the quantity/value change in the basket icon in the top right of the screen.
You may then continue browsing our products and adding items to your basket until you are ready to check out. You do not need to log in to add items to your basket, however, once you are ready to complete your order you will need to create an account with us or log in if you have already created an account.
You may prefer to create a wish-list rather than adding items to your basket, this is particularly useful if you want to spend several days creating your order. You will need to log into the site before adding items to your wish-list, click here to log in or create an account with us. You can add items to your wish-list from the link on the individual product pages. Once you are happy with the contents of your wish-list, you may want to share it with a friend, select the 'email to a friend' option. Please be assured that we will not have access to your friend's contact details via the wish list forwarding facility. Should they wish to create their own wish-list, they would need to create their own account. They can however, click directly through to view details of each product on your wish list.
Once you have completed your browsing and are ready to place your order, simply click on the view basket link in the top right of the screen or within the message box that appears when you add your last product. You will then view the contents of your basket and will be able to see any P&P charges that have been added. If you have a special offer code (eg from a catalogue or newspaper) please enter it into the 'Order Code' box as shown below to activate the offer. You may also like to select one of the bonus offers that appear beneath your selected products.
If you are happy with your selection, you may proceed by clicking the Checkout button. If you have not yet logged in to the site, you will then be prompted to create an account or log in, once you have done this a new page will appear with your billing and delivery details. If these are correct please go straight to step 3 and enter your card details (we accept Visa or Mastercard). If you need to change either billing or delivery addresses, please select an alternative address from the drop down menu or click on the 'add an address' button.
We will use email to send you an order acknowledgement. Therefore, please ensure that the email address you supply us with is correct and up to date.
Once you have completed your order, we will send you an order acknowledgement; this will include a summary of all items you have ordered, your customer and order numbers as well as the estimated delivery dates for any products you may have ordered. Please retain this acknowledgement for future reference, you will be asked for your order number if you need to contact our customer services department.
All our cuttings are selected carefully before they are despatched, but we fully understand that we are sending living plants - so there is always the possibility that something may go wrong along the way! Most other nurseries say that once they have delivered the plants to you they are your responsibility - but unhappy customers are not what we want so we offer a full 14 day period in which you can let us know of any problems. If at any time, during the first fourteen days, you are unhappy for any reason, then please let us know in writing - either by post or email. We will replace them or refund your money, whichever you'd prefer. This guarantee becomes null & void if the cuttings have been grown in bark based composts as these are too wet for them and please do not remove the biodegradable nets from the rooted cuttings.
Once you have placed your order, you may like to check the website to see when your plants will be delivered. The new 'My Orders' system will enable you to do this. You do need to have an account to be able to view your order status, simply enter your details and your outstanding orders will be displayed along with the latest delivery dates. As with all living products, delivery dates are subject to change - check back regularly to the latest update.
You may wish to view items you have previously ordered online, once you have logged in you can select the order history button to view past orders.
